PARK+KIOSK+CONTEST

About this project:

2018-03

This project is located at the heart of the city. García Sanabria´s park is one of the most visited places of the urban area of Santa Cruz. The city hall delivered an open contest for local architectural firms to reform the most emblematic bar in this famous park. Our goal was to achieve a natural relationship with the current environment and existing architecture. In that sense, we provided a language that mimics its neighbour building using the same wood patterns in our facade, using a diamond profile both for privacy views interior-exterior and also because of the actual diamond shape of the floorplan of the kiosk. Another key element was to bring people inside changin the interior distribution to acomodate new seats and tables and also to incorporate some vegetal features from the exterior park to the inside building. The last design goal was to keep the actual structure as it is without modifying any of it and let it shine without touching the wave-shaped roof. Now the vertical wood profiles highlight this roof pattern even more than it was before. Although our proposal did not win (due to some contest irregularyties) we are very proud of our final product.
